Questions
What is Balance Point?
Balance Point is an iPhone app that turns irregular weigh-ins into a weight trend and shows the forecast as a range. It also keeps a log of treatments and doses and plans goals from a date or a pace.
Can I download Balance Point yet?
Not yet. The app is still being built for iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 or later). Leave your email on this site for one message from Rival Bear when it reaches the App Store.
Do I need an account?
No. You never sign up for anything, and your data never reaches a server run by Rival Bear. Everything you log is kept on the device, and the full history exports to a file whenever you like.
How is the trend different from what the scale says today?
A single weigh-in moves with water and meal timing, so it can swing a pound or two overnight. The trend is a smoothed estimate built from all your weigh-ins, with a range that shows how sure it is.
What happens during a week with no weigh-ins?
The trend keeps going across the gap, with a range that widens daily until you weigh in again. No made-up weigh-ins fill the empty days, either on the chart or in Apple Health.
Why does the forecast show a range instead of a date?
Weight change slows and speeds up, so any single date would claim more certainty than the data has. Balance Point shows the range the weigh-ins support, and when recent weigh-ins are scarce it omits the date.
Does Balance Point work with Apple Health?
Yes. Once you grant access, it can read weigh-ins and dietary totals, along with body fat and waist. Health receives only numbers you entered yourself; trends, forecasts, plans, and other estimates never leave Balance Point.
Can I log GLP-1 or other medication doses?
Yes. Add the treatment once and log each dose against it; logging the same dose as last time takes one tap, and every dose gets a mark on the chart. Balance Point stores what you log and gives no dosing advice.
Does Balance Point count calories?
It keeps one total per day for calories and each macro, which you type in or pull from Apple Health. Food search and per-meal logging aren’t part of the app. From days marked complete, it estimates your daily energy burned.
Is Balance Point medical advice?
No. The app keeps your numbers and computes trends from them. Diagnosis and prescribing are outside what it does, and decisions about medication or health belong with your clinician.
Will it nag me to weigh in every day?
No. Optional notices appear only when the data changes, such as a long gap since your usual weigh-in or a change in direction, and each kind can be turned off. Balance Point never counts consecutive days.
Does it support kilograms?
Yes. Choose pounds or kilograms in Settings, and charts and goals follow that choice.
Can I bring in my weight spreadsheet?
Yes. Save the sheet as a CSV file with a date column and a weight column, then open it from Import CSV or archive in Settings. Balance Point shows what it found, including duplicates, before adding anything.
Will there be an Android version?
No Android version is planned. Balance Point is only for iPhone and iPad.
Who makes Balance Point?
Rival Bear, a small studio based in the Sierra Nevada of California. We started the app after eight years of tracking weight in spreadsheets, where gaps got filled by hand and goal dates swung from month to month.
